What is Taekwondo?

Taekwondo is a Korean Martial Art of self-defense with a history of over 2000 years.  Its'  beginnings were with the Hwarang Warriors who were like Korean Samurai.  Taekwondo is a hard style martial art in that is meets force with force.  However, it does have some soft techniques.  Tae means foot or reference to kicking.  Kwon means hand or reference to punching or striking.  Do means the way, or method or path.  Our school specializes  in the true combat martial art of Taekwondo not the sport Taekwondo of the Olympics.  Do you know the difference?
